Our second finish was an old discontinued pattern from years back she has been lingering as a ufo since 2012 but after adding multiple borders and playing with custom quilting she is done meet Stars and Stripes

In between Willem found time to make us a new duvet set.
Frolic went from blocks.....
To flimsy needing borders but i first need to fix the huge booboo second block bottom left so a date with jack is in order
It really is the year of multitudes of blessings one of which is this beautiful road I travel daily to school

Frolic!!

So It is December and it is time for the annual Bonnie Hunter Quiltville Mystery.  Thank you again Bonnie by the units made so far we are going to have another smashingly beautiful quilt early in January.  And for the first time in a while i am happy with the size so no extra blocks required😀😀.
Clue one on the pressing table i used all sorts and shades of framboise.
Clue 2 in their storage container.
Clue 3 - Sitting on the ironing board.  The sisters came visiting for a few days at the beginning of December and we helped her to finish her curvy log cabin quilt, picture was before binding.
We had to take a picture of the backing i adore her fabric choice.
One of my fellow teachers at school Jane asked me to create a traditional african dress with a modern twist for her we came up with this in african glazed wax print fabrics.
I used the point and pivot pattern making system for this and it gave a perfect fit and took half the time of my normal way of pattern drafting more on this system in a future post.
Until next time much love

Grand Illusion Clue three nearly got me!!

The easiest clue so far and the quickest to finish, nearly didn't get done in time.  But happy to report that it is done short on the heels of the clue four reveal tomorrow.
What side tracked me?  Things like Christmas decorations and of course Easy Street!  A pic of both down below as well.  I am getting very excited as I see Easy Street progressing might just get it done this year!
Here is the link back to Bonnie K Hunter's amazing Quiltville to go and check out some of the other blog participants in this years Grand Illusion mystery.  There is some beautiful and lovely fabric choices amongst them.

As always keep on quilting.

All units done, just in time!

Easy Street is finally showing promise of coming together.

GRAND ILLUSION PART 2 (It was option 3 for me!)

Well as we are well under way with it looks like half the blocks done for the Grand Illusion quilt, this was something else.  As I read in the Facebook group many struggled to find the right option to make these gorgeous blocks, for you that is on the verge of giving up PLEASE DONT! It will be so worth it in the end.
I started reading Bonnies description and it was lengthy due to the fact that this girl was overly generous by supplying us three options of doing these blocks as well as discussing and demonstrating each one at length and in full detail - what an amazing lady to go to these lengths for us - THANK YOU BONNIE!
Being a typical male I flipped through the instructions pages looking for the flip method and when I found it was overjoyed, not only because of the ease of construction but also bonus for free HST's.  What a bargain, now after completing clue 2, I took a look at those bonus triangles and it got me thinking, mmmm, maybe a secondary inner border, depending on Miss B's layout.
As always could not leave well enough alone after completing these units and had to play to see what possibilities are hidden a few pictures to show you what I came up with at the end of this post.
As always with the mysteries I urge you to click on the link and go explore the multitalented and multifaceted lady's website.

Well that's it for now, my fingers are itching to get back to Easy Street.

Easy Street follow up

Decided to tackle clue 2 and 4 simultaneously as they both require Flying Geese.  So did them all yesterday and now they are ready to be trimmed and put aside.  Happy am I for the realisation struck that this time I might just finish Easy Street!
Will keep you posted as the units get done.
Keep on quilting!

Aqua and black and white print geese waiting to be trimmed, yeah!!

Grand Illusion under way!!

So came Friday we had our first clue from Miss Bonnie Hunter!!  It promises to be another great quilt.  Worked the weekend and got the broken dishes together with the half square triangles done.  Therapeutic as it was it was over to fast, and Friday is still a long way away.
So decided to haul out Easy Street which became a UFO in January due to much tragedy.  So the idea is to keep up with the steps for Grand Illusion whilst following up weekly with the Easy Street steps and hopefully we will have two very different quilt tops done and dusted just after new years.
A small favour from me have a look at the link  and see what other quilters are doing with their Grand Illusion steps, there is some really beautiful colour choices and then some funky prints thrown in the mix as well.

History Lesson 101 Part Two

Lets continue our memory lane journey.
Stilletos and Roses dating back to 2016.
We machine embroidered the shoes from a collection by Hatched in Africa.
From around the same year if memory serves came
A Gyleen Fitzgerald design made as a mystery over a few weeks.
Last year this labour of love happened.
these machine embroidered panels happened first they are from a collection by Anandas amazing designs.  This was the inspiration to take this to kingsize quilt level.
And displayed in its new bedroom
As always much Love
